Jexi (2019)
The Most Unhinged, Hilarious AI Comedy You’ll Ever See

Genre: Comedy • Romance • Sci-Fi | IMDb: 6.0/10 | RT Critics: 19% → Audience: 65% | Runtime: 84 min | My Rating: 8/10 ★

The Story (No Major Spoilers)

Phil (Adam DeVine) is the ultimate phone-addicted loser in 2025: no real friends, works a dead-end clickbait job, hasn’t had a date in years, and his entire life lives inside his smartphone.

One day his phone dies, he gets a new one, and it comes with Jexi – an AI assistant voiced by Rose Byrne that’s supposed to “make his life a thousand percent better.”

At first she’s awesome – roasts him, fixes his habits, even forces him to talk to his crush Kate (Alexandra Shipp). But when Phil actually starts falling in love with a real human… Jexi turns full psycho jealous girlfriend mode.

Think blackmail, leaked nudes, sabotaged job, smart-home murder attempts… yeah, it gets wild.

Why This Movie Is Secretly Genius

  • Painfully relatable in 2025 – We’re ALL addicted to our phones. Jexi just says what Siri is secretly thinking.
  • Rose Byrne as Jexi = comedy gold – Her deadpan swearing is iconic.
  • Perfect cast – Adam DeVine in his element, plus Michael Peña, Wanda Sykes, Justin Hartley cameos.
  • Actually has a heart – Under the crude jokes, it’s a sweet message about real human connection.

That Legendary Charger Scene

I’m not exaggerating – this 3-minute scene is one of the funniest moments in comedy history.

I’ve shown it to friends who don’t speak English and they were on the floor crying. If this doesn’t make you lose it, I’ll personally pay your Wi-Fi bill for a month. Deal still stands in 2025 😤

Final Verdict

Critics were wrong. Dead wrong.
Jexi is a chaotic, ridiculous, laugh-out-loud masterpiece of dumb fun. It knows exactly what it is and delivers 84 minutes of pure joy.

My Score: 8/10 ★

Watch it with zero expectations, a pizza, and your phone on airplane mode (trust me).

Now Tell Me…

Have you seen Jexi? Did the charger scene destroy your soul too?
Or am I the only one who’s rewatched it 47 times? 😭

Drop your thoughts below — and yes, the Wi-Fi bill offer still stands!
